Description from the seller
A four-page handwritten letter, double-sided on a double sheet.
The letter was written shortly after the “fatal event” that occurred at Claremont in England—the death of the King of the French in exile, Louis Philippe I, on 26 August 1850.
A large part of the letter is devoted to very troubling news concerning the health of Louise d’Orléans, Queen of the Belgians, who would die a few weeks later, on 11 October 1850, in Ostend.
Finally, it provides news of the royal breach/fissure established at Claremont in the United Kingdom.
