Théophile Alexandre Steinlen, born in Lausanne on November 20, 1859 and died in Paris (18th arrondissement) on December 13, 1923, was a Swiss anarchist artist, painter, engraver, illustrator, afficheist, and sculptor, naturalized French in 1901.
Son of Samuel Steinlen, a Post Office employee in Lausanne, himself the son of Christian Gottlieb (Théophile) Steinlen (1779-1847), painter and draftsman. Originally from Germany, the Steinlen family had been admitted to the bourgeoisie of Vevey in 1832. Théophile Alexandre Steinlen studied theology at the University of Lausanne for two years, then, in 1879, turned to art, pursuing a course in industrial ornament drawing in Mulhouse, at Schoenhaupt, before settling in Paris with his wife Émilie in 1881.

Parastone has been successfully creating decorative objects for almost 50 years, some of timeless classic beauty and others more aligned with prevailing trends. The Mouseion collection of museum pieces constitutes a significant part of the collection. In addition to exact copies of major works of art, the Mouseion series also includes three dimensional interpretations of paintings and drawings by many artists, from Hieronymus Bosch to Salvador Dalí.
