Saint Agatha of Catania
Martyr and Patron: Agatha (from Greek agathé, meaning 'kind') was a young virgin and martyr of the 3rd century in Sicily, who suffered persecution for her Christian faith under Emperor Decius.

Fortitude symbolism: Her story is an example of unwavering faith and steadfastness in the face of torture. She is the patron saint of Catania, and her intercession is invoked against volcanic eruptions (such as Mount Etna). She is also the patroness of nurses and of people affected by breast cancer, due to the torments she endured.
