Description from the seller

A beautiful ancient Roman terracotta jug, dating to the Roman Imperial period, circa 1st–3rd century AD.

This elegant vessel features a rounded body, a flared neck and rim, and a distinctive twisted handle extending from the rim to the shoulder.

The surface displays a rich reddish-brown finish, complemented by fine horizontal incised lines around the shoulder and body. The twisted handle adds a particularly attractive decorative element to the vessel's otherwise simple and harmonious form.

The jug retains visible surface deposits, areas of wear, and traces of its original reddish finish, consistent with its attributed antiquity.

Vessels of this general type were used throughout the Roman world for storing, serving, and pouring liquids, including water and wine.

It will be shipped from Japan with tracking information.
