Märklin E 63 02 electric locomotive, H0 scale, analogue control, single item, no original box, in reasonable cosmetic condition with red cab paint well preserved and a complete metal SBS 10 pantograph on a heavy Zamak body."
Description from the seller
We offer to collectors and vintage model railway enthusiasts a true icon of Märklin's golden age: the E 63 class shunting electric locomotive (registered E 63 02), reference 3001.
Produced in this precise variant between 1960 and 1968 in West Germany (as testified by the engraved inscription “Made in West Germany” under the injection-molded metal chassis), this piece perfectly embodies the brand's legendary sturdiness. Fully built in heavy metal (Zamak), it features its very distinctive original red livery, highlighted by red wheels and rods.
This model is equipped with the famous silver SBS 10 articulating pantograph (part number 7018) with double horizontal spring, typical of this 1960s sub-version, fixed by its original central screw. The white side markings are perfectly clear and period-printed.
History and context:
In reality, the E 63 series was commissioned by the Deutsche Reichsbahn in the 1930s to perform heavy yard shunting and wagon sorting in the major stations of southern Germany. Powerful and stout, these electric locomotives continued their careers into the 1970s under the DB (Deutsche Bundesbahn) banner.
Märklin made it one of its flagship models as early as 1952 (under reference CE 800), before evolving it into this 3001 version. It is the perfect model for shunting vintage freight cars on a three-rail (AC) network.
Cosmetic condition:
• Body & chassis: Good overall condition “as is.” The red cab paint is very well preserved. Note a small paint chip on the gray roof to the left of the pantograph (see photos), a classic on these models where the roof was painted on the red injected shell.
• Details: Buffers and metal handrails intact. Presence of the original modern metal Relex coupling at the rear.
• Pantograph: Complete and functional, with its original red plastic insulators.
A very beautiful collectible piece, heavy and authentic, representative of Göppingen’s craftsmanship in the 1960s.
Watch the macro photos carefully to appreciate the exact condition of the model.
