Description from the seller
Rare electric espresso coffee maker "Velox" - Umberto Malagò Patent (Ferrara) - 1920s/30s
Splendid and rare specimen of an electric domestic espresso coffee machine produced in Italy between the 1920s and 1930s. This iconic model, protected by the famous "Umberto Malagò Patent - Ferrara", represents a fundamental piece of the history of industrial design and the tradition of Italian espresso.
The machine stands out for its ingenious technical configuration: the dispensing unit and the filter are positioned laterally, thermally insulated from the central boiler body. This era-specific measure prevented overheating of the ground coffee before dispensing, ensuring an impeccable aroma.
Condition and details:
External body: Solid brass nickel-plated/chromed structure in excellent aesthetic condition, with optimal shine and minimal signs of wear consistent with the object's age. It rests on the characteristic three original decorative feet.
Internal components: As visible in the detailed photos, the dispensing group is completely disassembled and absolutely complete with all its original internal parts: filter basket, upper perforated disc for water distribution, and knurled black bakelite knob on top. All components are intact, not deformed, and free from significant limescale build-up.
Bakelite elements: The knobs and black details are in excellent condition, with no cracks or chips.
Operational condition: The item is sold as a splendid collectible piece for display or vintage mid-century enthusiasts. The electrical system is original and has not been tested for safety reasons. (Note: power cord is not present).
An unmissable opportunity for collectors of historic coffee makers and enthusiasts of early 20th-century Italian mid-century design.
