Catalog Catalonia – 8 notarial manuscripts from the 18th century (1760–1783) covering testaments, successions and seals, written mainly in old Catalan and bound in a green-brown marbled paper sleeve, 8 documents on 40 pages, dating from 1787 to 1792, in good condition.
Description from the seller
Interesting set of eight handwritten Spanish documents from the 18th century, including notarial acts, testamentary dispositions, and items relating to successions and family estates.
These documents concern notably the Planas, Campà, and Domènech families, established in the region of Castelló d’Empúries, in Catalonia.
Several acts bear Spanish fiscal seals impressed with the royal coat of arms, with references to tax values and dates from the 18th century.
The documents are mainly written in Old Catalan, in beautiful handwritten scripts in brown ink, presenting numerous signatures, paraphs, and calligraphic embellishments.
The collection constitutes a historical testimony of notarial practices, property transfers, successions, and the lives of Catalan families under the Ancien Régime.
Presentation:
The eight documents are kept in an old cardboard folder covered with green and brown marbled paper, with reinforced spine and closure ties.
This folder has undergone careful restoration while preserving its old-fashioned appearance and patina.
Condition:
Old documents showing normal signs of age: creases, browning, stains, small marginal tears and paper irregularities.
The writings remain broadly legible.
Old folder showing rubbing, wear to the cover paper and some losses.
Sold as a single lot: 8 handwritten documents and their preservation folder.
An interesting set for collectors of ancient manuscripts, of Spanish history, genealogy, and European notarial archives.
Photographs forming an integral part of the description.
