AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

sculpture created by a contemporary artist with the emblematic title "distopian harmony" hand-signed on the back, various types of wood were used, carved by hand and worked with flame to obtain a particular antique effect; on the surface, fragments of original antique musical scores and wrought iron elements were applied. The title speaks of a contradicting reality that appears in contrast and yet coexists, as is everything related to life itself. It will be carefully packed and shipped by courier.

Biography

Andrea Oliva was born in Milan on 15/02/1973.
He attended classical high school but then decided to follow his instinct, left gymnasium and enrolled in the Caravaggio Art High School where he graduated in 1992 and subsequently at the Brera Academy of Fine Arts. He played in several musical groups, drums and guitar, while at the same time attending ateliers of already established artists and began a long period of collaboration with some of them, from whom he learned the specific techniques of sculpture. He also worked for a period at the historic plaster workshop "Fumagalli e Dossi". He began a steady series of solo exhibitions, the first in 1994 and group exhibitions, participated in sculpture symposia and competitions, and became a member-artist of the Museo della Permanente in Milan. He also devoted himself to painting and to writing poetry, some of which was published in specialist journals.
He carried out on commission the plaques of "doctorate in chemical sciences and in industrial chemistry" for the University of Milan in 2004 and for the University of Insubria (Varese-Como) in 2005.
He has realized several public monuments, one of the most important is a sepulchral monument located in Milan’s Cimitero Maggiore.
