Description from the seller
The Bommel animated film "If You Understand What I Mean" from 1983 was the first and is still almost the only full-length animated film produced in the Netherlands for young and old. The main character is Olivier ‘Ollie’ B. Bommel, the popular creation of comic author Marten Toonder. The Dutch language was enriched thanks to the Bommel stories with words such as ‘denkraam’ and ‘minkukel’ and with expressions like ‘kommer en kwel’ and ‘If you understand what I mean’. The latter is Olivier B. Bommel’s oft-quoted line and thus an obvious title for the animated film. It had always been Toonder’s dream to bring to life the refined bear of standing, who always wears a yellow jacket with a red plaid pattern, on the screen. He also called cartoons “the pinnacle of the strip.” Almost three years were spent working on it before the film premiered on February 2, 1983 at the Tuschinsky Theatre in Amsterdam. This lot contains a beautiful original and official promo photo for the Bommel film, signed in the bottom right corner. This splendid photo featuring a stunning scene from the film was distributed to major cinemas to promote the film. See also the photos that form part of the description and give a good impression of what is on offer. The beautiful photo will be carefully packed and sent by registered mail.
