Large Octagonal Tray Centerpiece - Handmade, Florence, 1970s - Silvered (36 cm, 980 g)

Brief Description:
A magnificent and imposing octagonal metal serving plate, entirely handmade by the renowned Florence-based workshop Cassetti in the 1970s. A piece of artisanal excellence with a history linked to Florence’s historic Ponte Vecchio.

Full Item Details:
This lot features a rare and splendid serving tray/centerpiece with a distinctive geometric octagonal shape. This piece is not only a functional object but a true silvermith’s work of art that embodies the tradition and craftsmanship of Florence.

Main Features:
Manufacturer: Cassetti (Florence). The signature "Cassetti" is clearly punched on the front of the piece, accompanied by the logo and the prestigious inscription "FATTO A MANO". Cassetti is one of the most renowned goldsmith and silversmith houses in Florence, known for its history intertwined with luxury jewelry also present on the Ponte Vecchio.

Craftsmanship: Entirely handmade. As certified by the hallmark, every detail of this object has been forged and finished by master artisans, ensuring uniqueness and quality.

Material and Technique: Base metal subjected to a prestigious and thick high-quality silvering, known as "Florentine silver" for its purity and distinctive brilliance, a technique that guarantees durability over time.

Design: A clean and elegant octagonal shape with a raised rim framing the central mirrored surface.

Dimensions: A substantial center-table piece, with a diameter (measured corner to opposite corner) of about 36 cm.

Weight: Solid and substantial weight of about 980 g (approximately 1 kg).

Period: Dating to the 1970s (ca. 1970–1979), a golden era for geometric design and luxury craftsmanship in Italy.

Condition:
The piece is in excellent vintage condition. The silvering is intact, with no exposed base metal areas, and retains a nice luster. The surface shows scattered light micro-scratches and circular cleaning marks (patina), consistent with age and light use, as visible in the photos.
There are no evident dents or structural flaws. The marks are crisp and legible. A piece ready to display or use.
