Italian origin; Series II titled 'Il medico italiano in guerra e in pace'; 15 original 1930s art postcards in good condition, with fantasy and battle themes.
Description from the seller
Splendid and rare lot of 15 original vintage art postcards from the 1930s.
The postcards are part of Series II titled "The Italian doctor in war and peace", illustrated by the renowned painter and poster designer Livio Apolloni (1903-1980). The graphic style is extraordinary, with dramatic black and white that perfectly imitates the technique of woodcut/engraving.
The postcards were published by the historic Art Editions “Fauno” (Rome) on behalf of the Committee for Assistance to Orphans of Doctors Who Died in War (Sanatorio Militare di Anzio).
Quantity: 15 postcards (including, among others, numbers 14, 18, 22).
Conditions: Excellent overall condition for the era. NEVER CIRCULATED (no writings, stamps or postmarks on the back). They show only the normal signs of time and light foxing (vintage humidity spots) on the back, which attest to their authenticity. On the back of each is a poetic/celebratory caption.
Perfect for militaria collectors, history of medicine enthusiasts, art postcards of the Fascist era, or to be framed as small works of art.
Fast shipping and ultra-protected packaging to prevent creases during transport.
