Description from the seller
Impressive bronze statue of a Soviet ski soldier / scout on a marble pedestal – modeled after a historic design from 1932.
A beautiful and highly detailed bronze statue of a saluting Russian soldier on skis, wearing winter uniform (long coat and hood/pointed cap) with a rifle on his back. The statue is mounted on a heavy, stylish pedestal of polished black marble.
This high-quality cast is made using the traditional 'lost-wax' method (cire perdue) and is an extremely faithful replica of the iconic Soviet design from 1932.
The bronze possesses fantastic historical details and is marked with two specific casting marks in the bronze:
1. A rectangular casting mark on the side with the text "ВСЕКОХУДОЖНИК МОСКВА 32" (Vsekokhoedozjnik Moskou, 1932), referring to the legendary All-Russian Association of Artists.
2. A circular Soviet stamp with the hammer and sickle, the letters "C.C.C.P." and the foundry mark "В".
The sculpture is in excellent, collectible condition with a beautiful, deep bronze patina and minimal signs of age on the marble base.
A splendid and decorative item for enthusiasts of militaria, history, and Soviet memorabilia.
