AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Walt Disney Enterprises - The Wise Little Hen -
First edition 1935 - First Donald Duck in this appearance - with Original cloth dust jacket.
Special early American edition from 1935, published by Whiteman Publishing Company, Racine, Wisconsin, USA.
Based on the eponymous Disney animated short from 1934, in which Donald Duck makes his official film debut.
Historically significant: Donald Duck appeared as himself as early as 1931 in the Adventures of Mickey Mouse, but in a very different form. In The Wise Little Hen he appears as the recognizable Donald Duck in a sailor suit. This 1935 edition thus belongs to his earliest book appearances in the well-known Disney version.
Edition:
- Original full-color illustrated hardcover
25 x 22.5 x 1 cm.
- The accompanying original cloth dust jacket.
- Complete, 40 pages on sturdy, thick paper.
- Beautiful color and black-and-white illustrations.
- Copyright 1935 Walt Disney Enterprises.
Condition:
Very nice hardcover.
Title page and opposite illustration with a few light, presumably hand-applied color accents. Otherwise the text block is notably clean. Rare original cloth dust jacket with a few tears and localized edge damage.
All pages are photogravured.
