Description from the seller
Lot of 11 Belle Époque Historic Postcards (1901-1907) – Portraits, Special Cancellations and Snapshots of Daily Life
Collection of 11 authentic postcards from the early 20th century (1901-1907). The lot offers a fascinating journey into Belle Époque society and the Edwardian era through dense correspondences in Italian, French and Old Czech, providing authentic glimpses of life and micro-stories from the past.
Among the 11 postcards, 2 illustrated vintage cards from 1906 sent to Grumello del Piano (Bergamo), include a postcard with the famous and sought-after rectangular special cancellation "Esposizione Milano 1906" (dated 29/11/1906) and a second postcard with a contemporaneous round cancellation from the same year. The fronts feature refined sepia-toned vintage photographic portraits (one young woman in a bucolic pose and a girl at the picket fence). Both pieces have traveled, are complete with original stamps, and are in excellent condition, ideal for collectors of historical postcards and Lombard postal history.
Preservation: General conditions very good for the period, with stamps and inscriptions perfectly legible; please carefully view the photo gallery where the usual signs of aging are highlighted.
