Hedera (pseudonimo) - Ego video

EGO VIDEO – Hedera (2026)

Original painting – Gouache on cardboard – Memento Mori
The Latin title, Ego Video («I see»), introduces a reflection on gaze, perception, and the boundary between what is visible and what remains hidden.

The work merges Gothic suggestions, natural symbolism, and references to ancient Wunderkammer, the cabinets of wonders where nature, art, and mystery coexisted.

The painting is presented in a decorative reclaimed frame, with raised floral ornaments and a gilded finish. The patina and the signs of time on the frame create an intentional contrast with the contemporary painting, contributing to the artwork's aesthetic identity.

The composition features a butterfly with dark wings, surrounded by ivy and vegetation in shades of green, blue, and purple. Among the natural elements appear an animal skull and an eye, enigmatic presences that recall the symbolic tradition of the Memento Mori.
