Background: this machine is a completely unique specimen. It started its life as 18 314, a Badische IV h by Maffei, and in that guise hauled the luxury train Rheingold. Later it was rebuilt by the DR into a test locomotive for the VES-M Halle (Saale), with a REKO boiler, partial cladding, white wheel rims, and single Indusi. In 1967 it was converted to oil firing. At the end of 1971 it was withdrawn after a cylinder failure and in 1984 sold to the Federal Republic of Germany. Since 1986 it has been on permanent loan to HEF at the Auto- und Technikmuseum in Sinsheim. Under its nickname “Schorsch,” it is well known among DDR equipment enthusiasts.
Märklin released this model as an Surprise Model — a novelty announced outside the regular new items program.

The original manual and all included accessories are present.
