Terahertz Schädel, a synthetic silicon dioxide mineral specimen from Japan, measuring 5.1 × 3.9 × 3.3 cm and weighing 80 g, with a uniformly dark, metallic sheen surface.
Description from the seller
There is a threshold in the invisible realm of radiation that for more than a century was deemed impassable. On this side, radio waves roamed, smooth and steerable; beyond it, light itself, shapeable by lenses and mirrors. But the narrow strip in between — a realm that would later be called Terahertz — remained closed, neither wave nor light truly obedient, a blind spot in the spectrum that neither technology nor mere sight could pierce. Whoever crossed this threshold, as physicists would realize only late, could see through clothing, through packaging, through the hidden itself without destroying it.
Only at the transition into the new millennium was it finally possible to fling this gate wide open — and, in Japan in particular, a stone arose whose name embodies that very threshold once deemed impassable. This skull, grown noticeably larger than the usual format, embodies precisely that moment of breakthrough: its deep, metallic-dark appearance seems as if it has itself glimpsed through the gate that had remained closed for so long — dark on the surface, yet bearing the knowledge of what lies behind it.
Terahertz consists of silicon dioxide, the fundamental building block of quartz and rock crystal, yet in a form that no geological process of the Earth has ever produced — a stone that only came into existence when humanity itself learned to cross that threshold between the waves.
A skull that does not come from the depths of the Earth, but from the depths of a long-closed gate.
Material: Terahertz (synthetic silicon dioxide)
Origin: Japan
Dimensions: 5.1 x 3.9 x 3.3 cm
Weight: 80 g
Special features: uniformly dark, metallicly shimmering surface
