Description from the seller
Jan van Oort (1921 - 2006) designed during World War II the comic character Paulus the Boskabouter, whose adventures from 1946 onwards were published in Het Vrije Volk. Van Oort called himself the "Jean Dulieu" (French translation of "Jan van Oort").
In addition to the 8,000 newspaper publications, Paulus appeared in color in a large number of magazines and children's books (translated and released in many countries). The watercolors Dulieu created for this purpose are each small works of art.
Dulieu was a jack-of-all-trades, a versatile and virtuoso artist whose skill and talent kept pace with his pursuit of perfection. Jean Dulieu received many prizes for his work and is counted among the "Big Three": Marten Toonder, Hans G. Kresse and Jean Dulieu.
