Description from the seller
Beautiful hardwood antique ell measure with bone inlay. The measure is divided into several segments.
The refined geometric inlay of wood and bone served not only as decoration but often also as a measuring line or division (such as quarter ell, half ell, or local taillings) to quickly fit fabrics. This type of richly adorned measuring rods with fine inlay was especially popular in the 18th and 19th centuries and was proudly used by linen merchants and fabric shops.
Netherlands, first half of the 19th century.
Good condition. Decorative knob at the end and one piece of inlay missing. See detail photos. Therefore this is offered without a reserve price.
It will be sent by registered mail.
