One‑of‑a‑kind hand‑made Florentine maquette of a commode from the 1980s, in poplar wood with a marble‑look top and hand‑painted floral motifs, Toscano origin, 36.5 x 22.5 x 18 cm, weight 1 g, with functioning drawers and good condition.
Description from the seller
Miniature of a commode made of poplar wood, with a top decorated to resemble fake marble and delicate hand-painted floral motifs in 18th-century style. One-of-a-kind piece, the fruit of a refined cabinetmaking and pictorial decoration craft, carried out entirely by hand by master Florentine artisans in the last century.
Carefully finished in every detail, it faithfully reproduces an antique commode, complete with functioning drawers, testimony to the high technical skill and the Tuscan artisanal tradition.
In the past these miniatures were made by cabinetmakers as presentation models (maquettes), to show the client the appearance of the furniture before real-scale construction. Today they represent collectible objects particularly sought after, appreciated for their artistic value as well as as a testament to the excellence of Italian craftsmanship.
The peculiarity of this unique piece is that it is also finely decorated.
This miniature belongs to a small series of models made by Florentine master artisans, each conceived as a unique piece.
