Large specimen of a traditional Japanese Sōsaku (creative) Kokeshi doll, titled "Manju" (满寿). This iconic masterpiece was designed and handcrafted by the celebrated master craftsman Issetsu Kuribayashi (1924–2011), one of the pioneers of the modern Kokeshi movement and winner of the prestigious Prime Minister's Award.

Design and Details:
The doll excels in its serene, minimalist facial expression, the finely drawn hair lines, and the striking wooden hairpin (kanzashi) on the head. The slender, elegantly shaped body is deep red lacquered and hand-decorated with refined gold floral motifs.

Condition:
The doll is in a beautiful, authentic vintage condition with minimal signs of aging that are appropriate for its age and contribute to its character (see photos for an accurate personal impression)
