Description from the seller
Natural Mineral Formation - Deep Purple Color — This lot features an imposing single crystal of Amethyst, sourced from the renowned Brazilian deposits. The specimen stands out for its remarkable dimensions and its elongated prismatic shape, culminating in a perfectly defined termination. The most fascinating feature is the vibrant color contrast between the apex, a deep, transparent purple, and the body of the crystal, more milky and complex. Observing the tip up close, one can appreciate the smooth, brilliant terminal faces, typical of a high-quality crystal. The transparency in this section is excellent and allows a glimpse into the mineral's interior, revealing natural inclusions and veils that attest to its growth process. The light passing through the apex enhances its regal purple color, with hues ranging from purple to magenta, and at certain points faint iridescence can be glimpsed. Descending along the prism, the color gradually fades, giving way to a more complex structure known as 'skeletal growth' or 'elestial' growth. The crystal faces are not smooth but show an articulated surface, with recesses and overlappings that create an almost architectural effect. This morphology results from rapid crystallization or formation under unstable conditions, where the edges and tips of the crystal grew faster than the center of the faces. Amethyst is a quartz variety whose coloration is due to trace amounts of iron in the crystal structure, activated by natural radiation. Specimens of this size with such a well-preserved termination are particularly valued in the world of collecting. This piece is not only a precious mineral specimen but also a sculptural object of great visual impact. Its verticality and intrinsic beauty make it an ideal element to enrich a modern Wunderkammer, a professional studio, or a design setting. It is a fragment of Earth's geological history, a natural work of art that captures the gaze and invites contemplation. Technical details Name: Amethyst (Quartz variety) Origin: Brazil Dimensions: 173 x 54 x 44 mm Weight: 468 g Condition: Natural, untreated
