AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Rare 12-piece tile tableau in sepia tones from Aardewerkbakkerij De Distel in Amsterdam (made between 1895 and 1923), depicting a scene after a work by the artist Johannes Bosboom (1817–1891).

The scene depicts the interior of the Grote or Sint-Nicolaaskerk in Edam.

Beautifully hand-painted and then fired in the oven at around 800 degrees. How the various tones came out of the oven was always a surprise. One of the middle tiles is slightly lighter than the rest. All tiles are mounted on a later wooden panel. The tile in the bottom left was broken and has been professionally restored. There are a few chips along the outer edges. See detail photos. Otherwise in excellent condition.

Will be sent by registered mail but can also be picked up.
