Description from the seller
Pair of Quartz Crystals Tramoggia / Stalactite with Siderite - San Gottardo, Switzerland - Collectors' specimen
Product description:
For sale an fascinating and unusual pair of clearly transparent Quartz crystals with a tramoggia (skeletal) habit and stalactitic termination, adorned by a beautiful growth of Siderite in warm orange and golden-brown tones. This exceptional specimen comes from the famous and historic area of the San Gottardo Massif, in Switzerland, an Alpine locale renowned for the purity and peculiarity of its hydrothermal minerals.
The true peculiarity of this piece lies in its geological history: originally joined, the two main crystals separated due to the natural tectonic movements of the Alpine fracture and then recrystallized independently on the fracture surfaces. As one can clearly observe up close, the shapes and geometric profiles match perfectly, making their coupling nature evident. Both crystals feature glossy faces, excellent vitreous transparency, and a pronounced stepped growth on the edges, enriched by well-crystallized rhombohedral siderite tufts that create a wonderful color contrast. A unique lot, ideal for enriching Alpine mineral, aesthetic, or curiosity collections.
Technical details and provenance:
• Main minerals: Quartz (clear tramoggia/stalactite variety), Siderite
• Locality: San Gottardo Massif, Canton Ticino / Uri, Switzerland
• Special feature: Piece split and recrystallized in the fracture (couplable)
• Origin: 100% Natural (no chemical or aesthetic treatment)
The offer includes both pieces shown in the images.
