Antique screw bottle in pewter from Germany, dating to 1750–1800, in Baroque eighteenth‑century style.
Description from the seller
Antique Screw-Top Pewter Bottle (Schraubflasche)
Baroque / 18th Century Style
Central Europe, late 18th – early 19th century
Splendid and rare antique portable bottle in solid pewter (historically known as Schraubflasche or Schraubkanne), characterized by a prismatic body with a square base and chamfered, recessed corners.
This type of container was traditionally used in Central Europe (primarily German-speaking areas, Switzerland or Northern Italy) to preserve and transport beverages.
The piece is distinguished by the extraordinary refinement of the decorative details applied to the edges: splendid forged handles and decorative relief columns with baroque lines that serve both as ornament and as grip.
The upper part features a bulging shoulder that culminates in an original solid screw cap, surmounted by a large mobile, shaped ring that facilitated hand carrying or attachment to a saddle.
• Material: Genuine antique (heavy) pewter (Tin).
• Period: Late 18th century – Early 19th century (circa 1780–1820).
• Dimensions: Height 24.5 cm x Width 11 cm.
• Hallmarks / Marks: workshop marks/Zinnmarken are present on the bottom and on the container cap.
• Condition: Excellent overall for its age.
It bears a magnificent original dark patina of the time that has not been deliberately polished, to preserve its historic charm.
Structurally solid, with minor signs of wear and very light metallic bloom typical of antique pewter, attesting to its authenticity.
The screw cap is perfectly functional.
A piece for the high-end collector, ideal for both connoisseurs of antique metals and as a sought-after decorative object for exclusive, historic interiors.
