AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

A Galena specimen with Pyrite and Calcite - Trepça Mine, Mitrovica, Kosovo - Collector's Mineral

Product description:
In sale, an exceptional and imposing collectible mineral specimen from the legendary Trepça mining complex (Stari Trg) in Mitrovica, Kosovo. This locality is historically regarded as one of the most important and renowned in Europe for the study and discovery of spectacular hydrothermal sulfides associated with it.
The piece shows a rich paragenesis characterized by a large three-dimensional development of Galena crystals, which form the main framework of the specimen. The galena appears in complex, well-developed crystalline aggregates, distinguished by the typical lead-gray color and a pronounced metallic luster.
Within a deep natural groove and along the sides of the specimen, a splendid and dense growth of small geometric Pyrite crystals is observed, with a bright golden color that creates a wonderful chromatic contrast with the dark galena. To crown and further enhance the piece, tufts and crusts of microcrystals of Calcite, pure white in color, are embedded, arranged in sponge-like and globular aggregates that emphasize the three-dimensionality and overall aesthetics of the piece. A Trepça classic of the highest visual and systematic level.
