Description from the seller
Elegant Antique Small Table in Louis XV Style with Marble Top in French Red Marble and Finely Carved and Gilded Structure
Important living room table in Louis XV style, with an eighteenth-century taste, characterized by a richly worked, finely carved and gilded structure, enhanced by a splendid, shaped top in French red marble, with striking white and gray veining.
The top features an elegant rectangular shape with a wavy profile, rounded corners and shaped edges, standing out for the particular beauty of the marble’s natural veining, which creates refined color contrasts among the tones of deep red, white and gray.
The underlying structure is richly worked with relief carvings depicting scrolls, volutes, acanthus leaves and botanical motifs, typical of the Rococo decorative repertoire. Especially scenographic is the front band, embellished with a central composition of opposing volutes and foliate decorations, executed with great attention to detail.
The table rests on four sturdy arched legs, completely carved with rich ornamental motifs and ending in elegant shaped feet. The gilded surfaces, alternating with darker tones in the recessed parts of the carvings, give depth to the finishes and enhance the sculptural character of the entire structure.
The substantial proportions, the richness of the decorative elements and the refined contrast between the red marble and the gilded structure make this coffee table a furnishing piece of great charm and dramatic presence. An elegant and refined item, ideal as a central coffee table for classical interiors, prestigious homes, refined living rooms or spaces furnished with antique furniture.
