AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

The animated film by De Bommel, "If You Understand What I Mean" from 1983, was the first and is still almost the only fully animated feature produced in the Netherlands for both young and old audiences. The main character is Olivier ‘Ollie’ B. Bommel, the popular creation of comic author Marten Toonder. Dutch language was enriched thanks to the Bommel stories with words such as ‘denkraam’ and ‘minkukel’ and with expressions like ‘kommer en kwel’ and ‘If you understand what I mean’. The latter is Olivier B. Bommel’s oft-quoted line and thus an obvious title for the animated film. It had long been Toonder’s dream to bring the refined bear of status, who always wears a yellow jacket with a red checkered pattern, to life on screen. He also called cartoons “the pinnacle of the comic.” Almost three years of work went into it before the film premiered on February 2, 1983 at the Tuschinski Theater in Amsterdam.

To make the film a success, document publication was extensively informed at the beginning of 1983 with a press kit that could be used freely in publications. In newspapers and magazines, the texts, photos, and drawings from that press kit were subsequently read and seen in detail. This bundle contains such a wonderful original and official press kit for the Bommelfilm, which on the inside cover is signed.

The press kit now offered contains:
1) A letter in which the premiere is announced, and an attachment with information. The editorial office is asked to give extensive attention to “this unique animated film.”
2) A sheet with 17 prints of Bommel in various poses and a sheet with 14 prints of Tom Poes in various poses.
3) A classic print of Bommel comfortably pursing his pipe.
4) Three photos (still images) of 8 x 13 cm from scenes in the film. It is likely that the press kits (partly) contained different photos.
5) Photos of the film’s makers, namely Marten Toonder and producer Rob Houwer.
6) Overview of the theaters where the film would be shown.

Also see the photos that form part of the description and give a good impression of what is offered.

The wonderful press kit will be carefully packed and sent to the new owner by registered mail.
