simplex - Toy Town and train - 1950-1960 - Netherlands

Simplex Toys Holland - Large Collection of Vintage Wooden Toy Blocks: 'Town & Train' Set - 1950s/1960s - With Original Wooden Box

Auction description:
Offered a very extensive and characteristic collection of vintage wooden building blocks from the well-known Dutch quality brand Simplex (Steinmeier & Co., Aalst). This set dates from the 1950s/1960s and allows children to build a lively town including a railway yard.

The lot contains a large amount of colorful elements: various stamped house blocks, roofs, trees, church towers, and several wooden train cars with locomotives. The underside of the wooden box bears the original authentic Simplex brand mark.

Condition of the item:
• Content: In a lived-in, but charming vintage condition. Over the decades the blocks have inevitably acquired paint wear, exposed edges, and signs of use (see detail photos). This gives the set a beautiful, well-loved patina. Nearly all stamps (windows/doors) are still clearly recognizable.
• Packaging: Supplied in the original wooden storage box with a slide lid. The box is structurally sound, free of woodworm, and shows normal aging signs consistent with its age.

A beautiful, extensive collector's lot for lovers of nostalgic Dutch wooden toys and vintage design!
