Jeffrey Silverthorne was born in Hawaii in 1946. He lives, teaches and photographs in Providence (USA). His first photos date from the late sixties. He has continued photographing since then, building his work around major series (“One Ring Circus”, “Lettres from the Dead House”, “Missing”, “Boystown”). Even influenced by Diane Arbus and driven by the photographic movement of the 1970s, Jeffrey Silverthorne detaches himself from any era and from any current. After Direction For Living (Fotografisk Center, 2007), Boystown, The Perfume of Desire (Lars Schwande, 2009) and Travel Plans (Éditions de l’œil / Noorderlicht), Portraits & Figures focuses on his work as a portraitist.
