Large extendable dining table in Louis XV style, carved oak – 20th century
Description :
Elegant and stout rectangular dining table in Louis XV / Regency style in oak, paired with beautiful marquetry/parquetry work on the top and rich carvings on the frieze and the base. It stands out for its lush carved decor and its ingenious one-meter extension system.
Top and frieze:
Marquetry top with geometric checkerboard patterns / Versailles parquet, surrounded by a carved frieze with a twisted or beaded motif.
Upper crosspiece cut and adorned with a large rocaille shell carved at the center.
Base:
Rests on four curved cabriole legs sculpted with acanthus at the shoulders and ending in imposing ball-and-claw feet.
Origin and Period :
Period: Second half of the 20th century (circa 1960–1980).
Probable origin: France or Belgium (traditional solid oak construction in chic rustic style).
