Description from the seller

Original edition - Copy no. 16/950 with the collaboration of Robaudy Printing in Cannes and Atelier d'Art Vairel in Monaco -

This art monograph and philosophical essay is dedicated to Raymond Moretti (1931-2005), a French painter, sculptor, and poster designer with a flourishing style, marked by total freedom and influenced by Jean Cocteau and Pablo Picasso. Widely known for his large-scale creations, such as the gigantic evolving sculpture named "Le Monstre" (installed in the basements of Paris La Défense), the colorful chimney of La Défense, or the historical fresco "Le Mur" -
The heart of the work revolves around a famous quote by the artist, taken up and theorized by Garaudy: "I am not a painter, I am a man who paints".
Through this formula, Garaudy explains that Moretti rejects the status of bourgeois aesthete or artist isolated in his ivory tower. Painting is seen as work, a manual and physical activity anchored in reality -
Condition: cover slightly worn, light damp stain in the margins without affecting the illustrations, the supporting paper yellowed with small foxing - Photos: Marc Vaux, Edward Quinn, Raphaël Gatti and Paul Louis - Very beautiful and Rare Copy -
