Description from the seller
Grundig amplifier with a brutally good sound. The sound that comes from this amplifier is phenomenal. The amplifier is fully functional, sound on both channels without noises and crackling. Switches, potentiometers and lamps are all functional. Optically, the front panel is in excellent condition on the cover, there are visible traces of use with some scratches
The Grundig V5000 is a highly regarded vintage integrated stereo amplifier built in Germany around 1980–1982. Originally retailing for a substantial 1,250 DM, it represents an era when Grundig made a serious push into high-end, audiophile-grade Hi-Fi equipment. Today, it is highly praised by collectors for its robust build quality and muscular sound signature.
Technical Specifications
The amplifier is built like a tank, featuring massive internal components:
• Power Output: 2x 70 watts continuous into 8 ohms, or 2x 100 watts DIN into 4 ohms (with dynamic power peaks up to 2x 150 watts).
• Total Harmonic Distortion (THD): Less than 0.02%.
• Frequency Response: 15 Hz to 40,000 Hz.
• Tone Control: Unique 4-way separate controls handling Bass, Low Mids, High Mids, and Treble.
• Weight & Dimensions: A heavy 12.6 kg unit measuring 450 x 110 x 380 mm.
• Inputs: Equipped with a highly advanced, built-in Phono MM/MC preamp stage.
Sound Performance & Features
Audio enthusiasts frequently praise the V5000 for its distinct sound character, especially when compared to its Japanese contemporaries of the same era:
• Powerful, Daily-Driver Audio: Reviewers note that even when running completely linear, it offers an incredibly pleasant, warm, and non-fatiguing sound that is perfect for everyday listening.
• Advanced Equalization: The 4-way tone control allows for precision tuning. Grundig configured its tone steps differently than many manufacturers—offering deeper bass adjustments and higher treble peaks—making it incredibly adaptable to older or flatter speakers.
• Robust Phono Stage: Unlike basic built-in stages of the era, the V5000's Phono section is exceptionally well-engineered to accommodate both Moving Magnet (MM) and Moving Coil (MC) turntables.
