A stunning and elegantly designed vintage Sōsaku (creative) Kokeshi doll, handmade and signed by the highly regarded Japanese Kokeshi master Sekiguchi Toa (関口東亜).

• This doll showcases Sekiguchi's absolute masterful touch. The egg-shaped head features a beautiful, minimalist stylized bob haircut that perfectly frames the serene-looking face. Her eyes are gently closed.
• Intaglio woodcarving: The kimono is decorated with extraordinary precision with deeply incised and subtly colored flower motifs (peonies/plum blossoms), combined with refined pyrography (wood-burning technique). The natural grain of the high-quality wood is thus beautifully brought to the fore.
• Signature: On the underside the doll bears the original, authentic artist's seal (hanko) with the family name 関口 (Sekiguchi).
