AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Relief frosted on tree-bark, Mid Century Modern, clear glass • Huta Szkła Laura (attrib.), Poland • ca. 1960–1970

Cylindrical vase of thick, clear glass with columns of relief frost on a ground of tree-bark, in Art Deco style. Each rose is built from spirally laid leaves and stands as a glass rosette before the vertical grooves of the bark. The punched neck adds a third texture. On the windowsill or under a lamp, every leaf catches the light.

For this object there is also a Buy Now price set, for those who want to acquire it immediately without waiting.

Description:

Cylindrical body with a slightly flaring, punched neck and a thick rounded rim. Around the wall stand columns of four roses stacked above each other, with the bark ground in between. At the bottom sits a ribbed footrim, the base is slightly hollow. The glass is thick-walled pressed; the 685 grams are tangible in the hand. The same model was also made in honey-colored, orange and peach-pink glass. Polish shops know it as the rose vase 'Róże' from Huta Laura.

About the maker:

Tarnów, in the south of Poland, was a glass city. The large glass factory, founded in 1934 by Walter Heinrich, employed over a thousand people in 1972 and exported hand-formed glass. In December 1975, the workers’ cooperative Huta Szkła Laura joined, registered for pressed and cast utility glass. The rose decoration of this vase retraces the pressed glass of the interwar period; the thick wall and the bark ground are from the seventies.

In interior design:

Fits a retro, country, or eclectic interior. With a couple of long stems inside, the height is nicely elevated, and by a window the roses glow.

Condition:

Good, with light signs of use. Base rim: a yellow to yellow-orange residue. Rim and neck: no chips, hairline cracks or restorations observed. Wall and relief: roses and bark ground sharp, with no detached parts. Foot rim: no chips observed. See the photographs. Offered as a decorative object, not intended for use with food.

In one glance:

Material: colorless pressed glass

Dimensions and weight: h 21.5 x diameter 8.5 cm, 685 grams

Brand: no factory mark, signature or label found

Dating: ca. 1970–1980

Origin: private collection, Western Europe

Attributions and sources:

Attributed to Huta Szkła Laura, Tarnów. Form, roses with spiral leaves, bark ground and punched neck correspond to the rose vase sold by Polish and Austrian dealers under that name. They show it in colorless, honey, orange and peach-pink. Also those pieces carry no mark.

Shipping:

Professionally packaged in a sturdy box with cushioning material, for fragile objects a double box. Always insured shipping with Track and Trace. See the feedback from previous buyers.
