Description from the seller

A beautiful fossil find of Plesiosaurus Dolichodeirus vertebrae mounted artfully on a decorative base made to order, to be displayed proudly in a study, living room or Wunderkammer.

The name of this enormous reptile comes from the Greek "plesios" and "sauros" meaning close to a lizard.

Plesiosaurus Dolichodeirus is the best-known representative of that group of marine reptiles known as plesiosaurs.

Its fossil remains date to the Early Jurassic, and from studying them it has been determined that it had a short tail and four highly developed flippers, while the average length was between 3 and 5 meters.

Fossil size: 280 x x 170 x 140 mm
Weight: 4435 g
Era: Early Jurassic, 190-180 Ma
Origin: Morocco

Seller's Story

The Mineral Art Gallery offers minerals, fossils, shells and natural elements. Born in Italy in 2017, today she collaborates with international galleries and collectors, she is a direct importer of large minerals and naturalistic collectible elements; deals with the processing to insert them inside the living space. A section of the gallery was dedicated to the Wunderkammer, "chamber of wonders or cabinet of curiosities" in which Mirabilia elements are presented: naturalia and italiania, a union between "the present is the past". All lots are shipped via DHL Express and Fercam couriers, with insured parcel and tracking.
