Acheulean culture proto-biface/cleaver in flint from Seguiet el Hamra, Western Sahara, dating to about 150,000–600,000 BP, in excellent condition with much of the cortex preserved, dimensions 165 × 115 mm, provenance Belgium from a private collection, authentic/original with an authenticity certificate included.

Massive protobiface with a reserved base from the early Acheulean, a typical tool of H. Erectus who lived there. These tools are regarded as transitional pieces between the earlier choppers/chopping tools and the fully retouched hand axes. Characteristic is the preservation of a large part of the cortex and, with a minimum of flaking, still aiming for a pointed form. These protobifaces are not common in large assemblages.
