Description from the seller
GERMANY. Bavaria. 1 Kreuzer. 1871. Ludwig II (1864-1886)
- Value: 1 Kreuzer.
- Reign: Ludwig II (1864-1886).
- Year: 1871.
- Inscriptions: Obverse: LUDWIG II KOENIG VON BAYERN. Reverse: 1 KREUZER · 1871.
- Grading: MS63 (NGC).
Coin of 1 Kreuzer minted by the Kingdom of Bavaria during the reign of Ludwig II, famous for his artistic patronage and for the construction of his emblematic castles. The obverse features the crowned Bavarian coat of arms, surrounded by the legend with the monarch's name and title, in an elegant heraldic design of great balance and careful execution. The reverse shows the face value 1 Kreuzer and the issue date, framed by a crown formed by laurel and oak branches joined at the bottom, a characteristic composition of Bavarian fractional issues. The specimen remains in excellent condition, with fully defined reliefs, homogeneous fields and much of the original mint shine, qualities fully in line with the MS63 grade awarded by NGC. This issue belongs to the year of the proclamation of the German Empire, when the Kingdom of Bavaria still retained the right to mint its own coinage before the full implementation of the imperial monetary system based on the Mark.
