Description from the seller
Autographed letter by Ary Scheffer, addressed to Mr. de Cailleux, probably Alphonse de Cailleux, dated Monday, June 8, 1840.
Written in brown ink on a double sheet of vellum paper with a 1 mm mourning border, with a small red ink collection seal at the top left of the first page and an old biographical notice glued on the fourth page.
Ary Scheffer requests that a portrait of the Queen be taken in his workshop so that it can be brought to the Tuileries, in the apartments of the Duke of Württemberg.
“Monday, June 8, 1840.
I beg Mr. de Cailleux to kindly order that tomorrow, Tuesday, at one o’clock, the portrait of the Queen that is in my studio be taken, in order to be carried to the Tuileries in the apartments of the Duke of Württemberg.
I renew to Mr. de Cailleux the assurance of all my devoted sentiments.”
