AI-assisted summary

Description from the seller

Beautiful imposing French Art Nouveau mantel clock, dating most likely to the late 19th or early 20th century, around 1900.

It is surmounted by an elegant patinated regulus-winged female sculpture, titled "La Source" bearing the signature " Aug Moreau" directly on the terrace. A plaque affixed to the base also bears the inscription " La Source - Par Aug.Moreau".

The sculpture portrays a young winged woman in a dynamic composition typical of the decorative production of this period.

The whole rests on a substantial veined marble base, embellished with decorative elements in gilded metal.

The clock has a white enamel dial with Arabic numerals, marked " IRIA", surrounded by an ornate gilded metal surround.

At the back is its traditional mechanical movement wound by a key, with balance wheel and bell strike. The key and the balance wheel are present.

A beautiful decorative clock signed Aug.Moreau, particularly representative of the Art Nouveau taste of the Belle Époque.

Good overall condition considering its age, with signs of use, wear and patina typical of an antique piece.

One wing of the sculpture shows a repair, a few marks and small imperfections are also present; see the photos as they are part of the description.
