Description from the seller

KLM Bols-Huisjes 95 through 98 – Heineken Brewery, Hendrick Hamel House, Hotel New York and Anthony Fokker’s parental home – including photo cards

Description

Offered is a beautiful set of four original KLM Bols houses, numbered 95, 96, 97 and 98, each based on a distinctive Dutch building with its own story.

The famous KLM houses are issued by KLM in cooperation with Bols and are worldwide beloved collector’s items. These four miniatures represent different aspects of Dutch history: the Heineken brewery, the unique Hendrick Hamel story, Rotterdam’s maritime history, and Dutch aviation history.

All four houses are filled with Bols and are in new condition. In addition, the four accompanying photo cards are included, featuring the original buildings.

The four houses

House no. 95 – Heineken Brouwhuis, Amsterdam

This house is a miniature of the historic Heineken Brewery at Stadhouderskade in Amsterdam. The characteristic building was constructed in 1913 and is now a well-known part of the Heineken Experience. The beautiful façade and recognizable architecture make this a special exemplar within the KLM collection.

House no. 96 – Hendrick Hamel House, Gorinchem

This house represents the Hendrick Hamel House on Kortendijk in Gorinchem. The building recalls Hendrick Hamel (1630–1692), the Dutch sailor who was shipwrecked in Korea in the 17th century and lived there for many years. His account formed a long-time important European source of information about Korea. The house was added to the KLM collection in 2015.

House no. 97 – Hotel New York, Rotterdam

This house is based on the famous Hotel New York on the Wilhelmina Pier in Rotterdam. The building formerly housed the headquarters of the Holland-America Line, from which many emigrants departed by ship to North America. The imposing premises with its distinctive towers forms an important part of Rotterdam’s maritime history. Hotel New York opened its doors as a hotel and restaurant in 1993. The KLM house was released in 2016.

House no. 98 – Parental home of Anthony Fokker, Haarlem

This house depicts Anthony Fokker’s parental home at Kleine Houtweg 65 in Haarlem. Fokker grew up here and developed a strong interest in technology and aircraft at a young age. He later became internationally renowned as a Dutch aircraft manufacturer. The residence is presumably from 1791. The house was added to the KLM collection in 2017 and refers to the special history of Dutch aviation.
