Description from the seller
A distinctive European polychrome painted cabinet, believed to date from the 19th century, approximately 1850–1900, displaying strong Italian, particularly Northern Italian, Baroque and Rococo influences.
The cabinet features a rich palette of deep red, brown and gold tones, with elaborate floral decoration and ornamental scrolling motifs. Its two doors are framed by shaped gilt mouldings and decorated with oval architectural landscapes depicting romantic towers and ruins.
A particularly distinctive feature is the difference between the scenes on the left and right doors. Each presents its own arrangement of architecture and landscape details, while sharing a harmonious palette and decorative framing. The two compositions complement one another, creating a unified pictorial scheme across the cabinet’s façade.
