Life-Size Batman Statue – Limited Edition 4/500 – 203 cm – Rubie’s Showroom

For sale is an exceptional life-size Batman display statue from a series limited to 500 pieces, according to its edition plaque. This particular statue bears the very low edition number 4 of 500.

It originates from the former German showroom of costume manufacturer Rubie’s, where it was displayed for many years. The statue has been in my private collection for more than ten years.

THE STATUE

Batman is depicted wearing his classic grey-and-black costume, featuring the iconic bat emblem, yellow utility belt, and long black cape. His dynamic pose, with one foot resting on a raised section of the base, one fist clenched, and a Batarang held in the other hand, makes this statue a truly impressive display piece.

The multi-level base features a grey stone-effect finish. Its plaque displays the Batman logo and the inscription:

“4 OF 500 – LIMITED EDITION DISPLAY FIGURE”

* Height of the figure from foot to the tips of the cowl ears: approx. 195 cm (76.8 inches)
* Height of the raised base supporting the bent leg: approx. 49 cm (19.3 inches)

PROVENANCE AND RESEARCH

Rubie’s was well known for producing officially licensed Batman costumes, among other products.

Historical collector and auction records also document a collaboration between Rubie’s and Michael Burnett Productions involving limited-edition, life-size display figures, including a Darth Vader edition from the 1990s. Numbered, life-size Batman display figures produced by Michael Burnett Productions are also known to exist.

Given this statue’s provenance from the Rubie’s showroom, its elaborate craftsmanship, and its edition plaque, I consider a connection to these productions plausible.

However, the manufacturer and exact year of production of this particular Batman statue have not been conclusively verified. No separate certificate of authenticity or manufacturer’s documentation is available.

The edition number 4/500 is documented on the plaque shown in the photographs.

CONDITION

Pre-owned condition consistent with its age and many years of use as a showroom display piece.

Visible signs of wear include, in particular:

* Paint chips on the clenched fist
* Scratches and minor paint damage on the legs
* Signs of wear on the Batarang
* Damage to some edges of the base
* Creases and signs of wear on the cape

The statue has not been repainted or restored.

All major scratches and areas of damage have been documented in the detailed photographs.
