Alloy ashtray and desk sculpture by Bühler for Swissair, circa 1950s, in good used condition with minor age marks and stains, measuring 12 cm high, 13 cm wide and 23 cm deep.
Description from the seller
Extremely rare Swissair table ashtray / sculpture – Manifattura Bühler, Switzerland – 1950s/1960s
Extraordinary and iconic table ashtray made in Switzerland during the 1950s and 1960s, dedicated to the famous airline Swissair.
The piece combines the era's functionality with a strong sculptural quality: the contoured base, which functions as an ashtray, bears in relief the SWISSAIR logo. From it rises a dynamic pillar that supports a model of a jet airliner (inspired by the famous jets of aviation's golden age), finished with a superb mirror polish and meticulous detailing (including the four engines under the swept wings and the tailplanes).
On the bottom are clearly stamped the Bühler production mark and the inscription "MADE IN SWITZERLAND", together with catalog number 7491.
An unmissable collectible for lovers of industrial antique, Mid-Century design, aviation objets d’art, and high-level aviation memorabilia.
