Specimen: Sliced Tutufa bubo shell (Tutufa bubo Linnaeus, 1758) mounted on a dark wood and satin-brass artistic base.
Description from the seller
Sliced Tutufa bubo Shell — An authentic fragment of nature transformed into organic sculpture. This specimen belongs to the species Tutufa bubo (Linnaeus, 1758), a marine gastropod of the family Bursidae, commonly known as the "frog shell" (ranella), collected in tropical waters of the Indo-Pacific. The shell has been expertly sliced to highlight its fascinating inner spiral, a natural architectural element revealed in all its elegant helical form. The openings left intentionally in view allow observation of the organism's geometric essence. The inner structure winds in harmonious curves reminiscent of the development of the golden ratio, evoking the hidden order in natural growth. The robust, knobby margins, with ochre and cream tones, contrast with the smooth, pale surfaces of the inner lip. The entire artifact is mounted on a refined artisanal dark wood base with satin brass, enhancing the piece both as a decorative object and as a collectible specimen. Ideal for contemporary cabinets of curiosities, refined natural history collections, marine-inspired interior arrangements, an original gift for those who love biology, aesthetics, and nature.
