Two antique Dutch red-fired stoneware strawberry pots with salt glaze, Haagse model (9 cm high, 9.5 cm diameter) and Amsterdam model (6 cm high, 9 cm diameter), dating to circa 1750–1800, in good used condition with minor signs of age.
Description from the seller
Two old original earthenware strawberry pots. Origin: the Netherlands. Material: red-burning earthenware with salt glaze. These small pots were used in the period from 1600 to the end of the 1800s to transport strawberries on a trekschuit to the big city (at the time, large strawberries were not yet known). These are the Hague model and the Amsterdam model. Each important city had its own model. The hole on the bottom was intended to let the excess juice drain away. They were reused each time. Period around 1750–1850. The tall pot (Hague model) with the pinched handle is in excellent condition, no restorations, and sits on a stand foot; it has a pinched handle. Inside and partly outside, salt glaze is glazed. Height 9 cm and diameter 9.5 cm. The smaller pot (Amsterdam model) is 6 cm high and 9 cm in diameter. It is missing a piece at the foot and the handle has been restored. The inside is glazed. Both are in lovely condition, you can bring a piece of Dutch history into your home. The lot will be well packed and shipped with tracking. NOTE: NO SHIPPING OUTSIDE EUROPE.
