Description from the seller
A rare and attractive Struveaspis sp. trilobite, measuring approximately 6 cm, from the Middle Devonian deposits of the Tafilalt region of Morocco.
Struveaspis is a relatively uncommon trilobite genus and is considerably less frequently encountered on the fossil market than the more widely available Moroccan Devonian trilobites. This specimen is particularly appealing thanks to its excellent preservation and clearly defined morphology.
The cephalon, thorax and pygidium are preserved in strong relief, with the characteristic curved thoracic segments clearly visible. The schizochroal eye is exceptionally well preserved, with numerous individual lenses/facets visible in close-up, providing an excellent detail for collectors interested in trilobite morphology.
The specimen retains its natural dark brown metallic appearance against the contrasting Devonian matrix. It is presented in positive relief and has a very attractive, compact display format.
Specimen size: approx. 6 cm
Matrix : 11 x 9 cm
Age: Middle Devonian
Stage: Eifelian
Location: Tafilalt, Morocco
Genus: Struveaspis sp.
Condition: Very good preservation
Preparation: Professionally prepared; no obvious major restoration visible
A rare Devonian trilobite with excellent eye preservation and strong three-dimensional relief, suitable for both private collections and more specialised palaeontological collections.
