Description from the seller
This is the highly regarded, fully automatic linear-tracking turntable from the early 1980s (produced between 1980 and 1984).
Technics launched this innovative turntable as part of its renowned series of tangential (linear-tracking) turntables. Thanks to the linear tonearm, the stylus moves across the record in a straight line, exactly mirroring how the groove was originally cut. This significantly minimizes tracking errors and distortion.
Key Features & Specifications
• Drive System: Quartz phase-locked direct-drive motor. This ensures an extremely stable rotational speed with a deviation of only ±0.002%.
• Tonearm: Dynamically balanced linear-tracking tonearm with a gimbal suspension. The arm is electronically controlled via a built-in microcomputer and optical sensors.
• Fully Automatic Convenience: The turntable automatically detects the record size and adjusts the speed (33 1/3 or 45 RPM) accordingly. The system features convenient front-panel controls (located outside the dust cover) for automatic start, stop, repeat, and track search (fast-forward/rewind).
• Cartridge System: Uses the convenient T4P (P-mount) plug-in cartridge system. This means there is no need to manually adjust tracking force or anti-skating; you simply plug in the cartridge, and it is instantly perfectly calibrated. It was originally supplied with a high-quality Technics EPC-P22 cartridge.
• Chassis: A very sturdy, heavy die-cast aluminum housing with a TNRC (Technics Non-Resonant Compound) insulating base to absorb external vibrations.
Platter: 312mm aluminium die-cast
Motor: ultra low speed brushless DC
Wow and flutter: 0.025% WRMS
Rumble: -78dB
Tonearm type: Dynamic balance linear tracking gimbal suspension
Effective mass: 9g including cartridge
Resonant frequency: 12Hz
Cartridge type: moving magnet type
Frequency response: 20 to 35,000Hz +-3dB
Dimensions: 430 x 88 x 350mm
Weight: 7.4kg
