Description from the seller

Rare guéridon - black with gilded leaf motif - Empire Revival, ca. 1920-1930

Stately guéridon (pedestal table) with a jet-black finish and richly gilded woodcarving: a wreath of acanthus leaves, an ornate pearl border, and a festoon motif with a tassel on the column shaft.

- Style: Empire, probably a revival piece from ca. 1920-1930 — the visible dowel construction and the regular, uniform finish of the gilding point to semi-industrial fabrication, rather than authentic 19th-century handwork.
- Origin: likely France

Made of oak.
Notably, the construction of the top: it is a full 3 cm thick and built from multiple layers of wood, a technique used at the time to guarantee a perfectly flat top — even after many decades there is little risk of warping or movement of the wood. Origin not determined with certainty.

This assessment is an estimate based on visible characteristics (construction, finishing, and style), not a formal appraisal or brand verification.
