AI-assisted summary
Description from the seller
Holland. Halve leeuwendaalder 1623/22 (overslag), Dordrecht. Zeldzame R2-emissie

Technische specificaties:
Materiaal: Zilver
Gehalte: 0,750
Zeldzaamheid: R2 (Zeer zeldzaam) voor de overslagvariant 1623/22

Holland. Half Lion Daalder (Halve Leeuwendaalder) 1623/22 (overdate), Dordrecht. Rare R2 issue
This silver half lion daalder was struck at the Dordrecht mint for the province of Holland. This specific piece is a rare overdate variant, featuring the year 1623 struck over 1622, classified in numismatic literature as R2 (Very Rare). While full lion daalders were common trade coins, the half-denominations were minted in significantly smaller quantities, making them much harder to find today.

Obverse: An armored knight looking over his left shoulder, standing behind a shield featuring the rampant lion of the province of Holland. The legend reads MO ARG PRO CONFOE BELG HOL.
Reverse: A large rampant lion facing left within a beaded circle. The legend includes the motto CONFIDENS DNO NON MOVETVR (He who trusts in the Lord does not waver) and the date 1623.
